Looking down into his beautiful, bright blue eyes, I pressed the head of my dick against his opening, grunting when his hole spasmed against my tip.
Swallowing hard, I leaned down and took his mouth, taking his keening whine against my lips as I pressed all the way inside my mate for the first time.
I froze, nearly going over from the way his tight channel fluttered around my dick trying to milk me before I was ready.
"Please move, Kins. I need you to move." My mate's body rolled against mine as he begged into my mouth.
Unable to deny him, or myself, I gripped his shoulders under his back and yelled as I pounded into him, losing all control.
A tingle raced down my spine as I furiously pumped into my precious boy, his body arched, locking up hard, and the warmth of his seed bathed both of our stomachs as he screamed my name at the ceiling and dug his fingers into my right ass cheek, while his right arm was wrapped around my back, pulling me impossibly closer to him.
Unable to hold back anymore, I poured my seed into his ass, growling as I rocked through my orgasm.
When I sank my teeth into his neck, marking him as my mate, one orgasm turned into another, as I pumped even more seed into his perfect body, loving how he moaned as more of his cum spilled between us.
We were panting and messy, and I felt the tears gather and fall from my eyes as I gently licked at his mate mark.
Like every shifter out there, I had dreamed of finding my soulmate and binding him to me for eternity more times than I could count. I knew the feeling of being forever connected to another being that shared a part of my soul was going to be the best experience of my life, but I truly hadn't expected to feel like this.
Like I would never be able to breathe without him by my side, ever again.
"Never leave me," Bentley whispered, a sob in his voice. "Please never leave me. I don't think I can live without you."
"Never, precious boy. I can't live without you either."
"Is it okay that I think I already––"
The entire house rocked with the sound of a roar only an alpha in distress could make, and the hair on my body stood on end.
Gently pulling from the warmth of my mate's perfect body, I quickly jumped up, already getting into my clothes. "Stay here. Something's wrong."
"What was that?" Bentley asked, scooping my t-shirt up and handing it to me.
"That was Flynn," I said, pulling the t-shirt over my head and cringing slightly when I realized I hadn't cleaned Bentley's cum off my stomach first. Not that it mattered. I wanted the world to know that he was claimed, but it was definitely going to be a crusty mess later. "Something has to be very wrong for him to do that."
Eyes widening, Bentley scrambled around, looking for his own clothes. "What if it's Ridley?!"
Grabbing him, I kissed his forehead, hugging him to me. "Just stay in here until I know there isn't any danger, precious boy. I need you to be safe."
Bentley nodded against my shoulder, body shaking in fear. "Just… Please be careful, Kins. I need you to be safe too."
Kissing his head one last time, I left the room, shutting the door behind me, just as Flynn let out another foundation-shaking roar.
Racing down the stairs, I didn't even stop to think as I leapt into the middle of what was obviously two smaller leopard shifters trying to double up on Flynn, shifting as I did.
My clothes shredded and my prosthetic fell away, clanking to the floor at the foot of the stairs, as I raced forward on three legs, sinking my teeth into the throat of the skinny leopard trying to get at Flynn's tender underbelly.
A leopard in human form entered the room, immediately jumping into the mess, lunging forward with a knife.
Using my ability, I jerked the knife from his grip, spinning it and plunging it into the man's stomach. As he yelled in pain, I sliced the knife upward, opening his stomach, surprised when I felt an answering slice to my own stomach just as I bit down on the writhing leopard beneath me, crushing his throat.
As I stumbled backward, I realized the leopard I'd gotten around the neck and pinned to the ground had used his back claws to pierce my stomach, and though my intestines weren't spilling out on the floor like the man who was lying at Flynn's feet, blood was gushing from my body at an alarming rate.
I heard my mate's terrified cry, and I glanced over at Flynn, watching as he simply laid his bulkier frame on top of the only remaining leopard.
Good, my mate was safe. My vision was starting to swim, and as Bentley fell to the floor beside me, sobbing, I tried to tell him I would be fine, but I was still in wolf form. The whine probably did nothing to reassure him.
"Oh God! There's so much blood. What do I do?" Bentley's sobs were killing me, but I was losing my fight with consciousness, and shifting to comfort him was completely out of the question when I didn't even have the energy to keep my damn eyes open.
"Fuck!" I heard Ward's voice, accompanied by several pairs of booted feet. "What the hell happened in here? Green, call a medical elder! Kinsey's hurt bad. Arry, call Foster!"
The room erupted in chaos. At least, I think it did. Mostly I couldn't see anything and all I could hear was the sweet melodic voice of my mate, continuously crying "I love you" over and over as he stroked the fur along my face and neck.
And then there was blackness.
***
When I opened my eyes again, it was to the most beautiful face I'd ever seen, head on the pillow beside mine, mostly dried tears stuck to his sleeping face. My precious boy had been worried.
Suddenly the idea I had been rolling around for months now seemed like the only option. I'd been hurt to this degree many times during my time with the FBI, but I was ready for a change.
All the late nights and dangers that always promised I might not come back wasn't the life I wanted to offer this beautiful, perfect man. He was too precious, his heart too close to the surface to be taken through the ringer time after time.
Looking at his beautiful face in fitful sleep, with evidence of how much he'd suffered while I was unconscious, I knew I couldn't put him through that. It would change him. Ruin him.
Reaching for my phone on the table beside the bed, cringing when it pulled against the stomach muscles that had obviously been sliced open, I opened up a message to the oldest of my younger brothers.
I'll do it.
"Kinsey?" Bentley's eyes were luminous and the most beautiful blue. They were going to match perfectly with the water that would surround our home.
"Hi, precious boy." I opened my arms, nearly crying myself when my mate sobbed in relief against my chest. "It's okay. I'm so sorry I worried you."
"Why can't I stop crying? You were the one who was hurt, but I can't stop these fucking tears."
Tilting his face up so I could again look into his lovely eyes, I pecked a kiss to his sweet mouth. "It's because you're in love, precious boy. It has a tendency to make you crazy."
"Tell me about it," he whispered, watching my eyes.
"You know…I accepted a job in Terra Mortis. It will mean working mostly behind a desk with just a little bit of actual training, probably just conditioning mostly. But I won’t have to work weekends unless something comes up, and I’ll have almost every single night off."
Bentley frowned, swallowing hard. "Like where your brothers and sister live, Terra Mortis? Like, in the Caribbean? "
Suddenly realizing I'd be pulling him away from a brother he'd basically been with every moment of his entire twenty-three years, I began to doubt my decision without talking to him first.
"Yes," I answered quietly, trying to read the frown on his face that just seemed to be growing. "The beaches there are beautiful, and there are a couple spots to open a little café. Pretty close to the building I'd be working out of."
"A café? But—"
My phone rang. I would have gladly ignored it, more intent to finish this conversation with my mate than to answer the phone for any reason, but Bentley glanced at the screen and
smiled, "It's Harley. Answer it. I'm going to go take a shower."
Frowning after my mate as he scampered, completely naked and unbelievably beautiful, in a direction that was not toward me, I swiped the screen, answering the phone.
"Hello?" My voice was gruff, because I was already planning what I was going to do to that amazing body once he brought it back out here.
"I think Carter Benson might be my mate."
"What?" When he grunted an affirmative, I sighed. "Well, fuck."
"And my bear has already smelled him."
"Where are you?"
"I'm standing in his room. He's been living with a hyena shifter, who I haven't killed. Yet." Harley's voice was barely more than a growl. "Now, more than ever, I'm convinced he knows where Carter is, or at least had something to do with his disappearance."
"You're sure it's Carter that is your mate?" I had to ask. "Are there any other people living in the house?"
"I'm looking at a computer bag that says Carter Benson and smells like fucking Heaven."
***
My mate was avoiding me.
I hadn't been sure at first. But after four hours of following him around like a puppy, only to have him find some reason or another to leave the room not long after I entered it, I was pretty convinced. And more than a little pissed.
"You're just going to leave him?" A face similar, but not quite the one I was looking for popped up in front of me, slowing my progress toward Ward and Davis's bedroom where I could smell my mate.
"Leave who?" Marlow and I hadn't exactly been the best of friends from the beginning, but he usually made a bit more sense.
"Bentley! Who the fuck else?"
My head snapped back on my shoulders like he’d slapped me. "What? Why would I leave Bentley? I would never leave him! That's fucking ridiculous!" I bellowed as I looked down at my kind-of-brother-in-law.
Seriously. It was like the guy could not get through his head how soulmates worked.
"You're taking a job in Terra Mortis!" he bellowed back.
"I know! Why are you telling me what I already know?" We were getting pretty loud, so I wasn't surprised at all when Arry stepped up behind his mate, glaring at me in a way I'd never seen from Arry's usually smirking face.
"What about Bentley? You expect him to stay here pining away, waiting for you to call every once in a while, while you prance around a beautiful island doing whatever the fuck you want?"
Marlow's handsome face was a crazy shade of pinkish-red that would have made me laugh if he wasn't in the middle of yelling at me.
And then his words registered, and I realized the only way Marlow would have this information was if Bentley told him. "Wait? Does he think that?"
"Yes! What is he supposed to think?"
My chest constricted, and something about my expression must have made Marlow confused, because the anger bled from his face.
"But, I told him about the spot where he could put a café. Or bakery. Or whatever he wanted," I whispered, my throat too tight to push more than that through my vocal chords.
"Oh." Marlow glanced back at his mate before returning his attention to me. “Well, shit."
Arry smirked, shaking his head and pulling his mate backward into his chest. "Stepped in it again, Blondie?"
"Shut up, 1998. Bentley's been moping all day. He didn't say anything about a café."
"That's because Harley called when I was in the middle of telling him," I grumbled, looking in the direction my mate's scent was coming from and seeing him standing in the middle of the hallway with Ward, Davis, and Rory.
I smiled softly at my mate, hating the sad confusion on his face. "After what happened yesterday, even though it wasn't directly related to any of my cases, I realized it wasn't fair to make Bentley sit around waiting for me to come back from a mission, constantly worried about whether or not I was going to be in one piece. So, I texted my brother, telling him I would take the job that Terra Mortis's owner offered me as director of the training facility.
"The last time I was there, there was a small bit of land for sale just outside the training facility that would be perfect for a little café or whatever. I thought since he loves to cook and bake and serve people, it might be perfect for him."
"But you love working for the FBI," Bentley said, his voice tight, obviously on the verge of tears.
"I do. But I love you more. I can't see you broken ever again. I can't wake up to your tears, knowing I'm the reason you were crying yourself to sleep." I moved forward, dropping down to my knees in front of him. "I do love the FBI, but I don't want to be away from you any amount of time. I need you every moment of every day, and if I continued to work for the bureau, it's long nights and going out of town a lot. It's waking up in a hospital more than once a year, and it's not being able to have a pet, let alone babies. And I want to have babies with you, precious boy. Gorgeous babies that look just like you."
"You love me." He didn't ask, and I loved that he had heard the truth in my words, and had gotten to the point where he felt confident enough in us to believe it.
"Of course I do. Almost from the moment I saw your adorable face, covered in flour with that beautiful smile you're wearing now, shining up from a picture on my phone."
"I love you too," he whispered, dropping to the floor in front of me, and wrapping his arms around my shoulders. "Are you sure you want to do this? Just for me?"
"It's not just for you. I'm selfish enough to want to spend every minute possible with you. You're the one who will have to go to a strange place with strange people."
"A beautiful place…with you." A tear rolled down Bentley's cheek and he opened his mouth to continue, but I cut him off.
"I don't have to take it, though. I wasn't thinking about you having to leave everything behind when I told my brother I would. Can you live without seeing your brother every day?"
I heard Marlow snort behind me. "That's what video chatting is for. And don't think I won't make every excuse imaginable to come visit you on an island in the Caribbean."
"When do we move?" Bentley asked, pulling his head back to look into my eyes with his beautiful blue ones.
"I have to finish out the cult case, but I think I'm going to have Harley take lead on the missing chosen case." Shaking my head, I pecked a kiss to my mate's nose. "Our oldest just found out the guy that had the creepy roommate is his mate."
Bentley's eyes widened, and he cringed. "I wouldn't want to be that roommate right now."
"Let's go call him and see if he killed the guy yet."
"Okay, but you get to handle the cleanup. I'll handle the 'what not to say to a mate' talk. That boy is going to end up telling the traumatized man every detail of how he ripped his roommate’s throat out after he eviscerated him." When I made a face that I was positive looked something like "What the fuck?" Bentley shrugged. "Or something."
"I told you he wasn't the nice twin," Marlow said, smacking his mate in the chest.
"Let's go." Arry tugged on his mate's arm. "Charles Manson's devil offspring is scaring the shit out of me."
When the hallway cleared, most smiling, some cringing, I leaned in and kissed my mate, unable to resist his delicious mouth.
"As soon as we coach our little boy through his life decisions, we're going to sit down and design your café. Or bakery. Whatever you want."
Snorting, Bentley brushed a kiss to my mouth. "Little boy." Licking his way across the seam of my mouth, he hummed. "Definitely a café. Do you think we can have sex on the beach?"
Groaning, because my mate's confidence was growing and it did things to my body, I sucked his tongue into my mouth. "Definitely. And everywhere else."
"Fuck," my once shy and subdued mate said, pressing his groin against mine. "Let's start with my room."
Jumping to my feet with Bentley in my arms, I felt happiness bubble up inside me as I tossed him over my shoulder and ran him to his room, listening to his adorable giggles the entire time.

"What are you going to do, Harley?! Cut your fucking vocal chords out and learn sign language? You're going to have to talk to him sometime. He's your mate. Don't you think that means he can handle the fact that you’re a bit blunt sometimes?" Boston growled, beyond irritated with me for begging him to be the one to get my mate to safety.
"A bit?" Carpenter snorted, making me glare.
"Just grab him for me, Bos. Please?"
"No." He grabbed my shoulders and spun me, giving me a little shove. "Go get your fucking mate. Don't you think he's been stuck here long enough?"
That got me moving. No matter my reservations about actually meeting my mate, and therefore no doubt saying something that was going to hurt, offend, scare or further traumatize the man, I couldn't let him sit in there, continuing to lose hope every minute that passed.
I followed my nose, the rest of the team minus Foster and Parker, on my heels. When we made it to the door my mate's scent was permeating from, I tried the knob, not at all surprised to find it locked. Probably so nobody could get in or out.
Not wanting to just bust the door in, because I had no idea what was on the other side, I twisted the knob and broke the thing.
I eased the door open, letting my eyes adjust to the near pitch-black stillness. I could make out four figures. Three huddled against the headboards on their twin-sized beds, one bundled under the blankets, sleeping.
The scent of my mate was prominent in the room, but as I finally entered, I could tell the delicious smell was coming from the direction of the lone sleeping figure.
